I do love a great big snow dump. It turns the whole of outside into a great big light box. It's so bright and cheery!
I have recently been working on quilting my great pile of to-be-quilted quilts, so I hauled a couple of recent finishes outside for photos. Given that we have ten acres, I want to build a permanent quilt stand somewhere in the woods, but I haven't gotten around to it just yet. Instead, what I did yesterday was lay the quilts out in the snow and climb a tree.
That sounds more dramatic than it is...I climbed into my husband's deer stand, which has a ladder up and a seat at the top.
Here are my two recent finishes!
Ron the Half-Chevron Quilt was pieced in 2013 (and blogged here and here), using one of the methods in Lucie Summers's book Quilt Improv. It was quilted by local long-armer Bernie O in 2014, and I finally bound it last week (why did that take so long?!)
Rossie Flies the Flag was pieced in 2014 & 2015 and blogged about in this post, It uses blocks from Katy Jones's Flag pattern from Quilt Now Issue 2 (I think that's the right issue...it's on the cover, here's info on where to buy the magazine if you want the pattern.) I quilted the flag quilt all by myself on a long arm machine (more on this soon!)
Okay, out of the snow and back indoors, under the quilts!
